As we were finishing up dinner last my youngest, Miss K, 7, asked, “Do I have to have children?”
Well, I was not prepared for that question from my 7-year-old, but gave her the best answer, “No, you don’t have to have children if you don’t want to. It is your choice.” I proceeded to ask why she was asking that question and she told me with her most scared, yet serious face that she did not want her stomach ripped open. WOW! Where the heck did she get that from?
I explained to her that your stomach does not get “ripped open” – although it might feel that way, but I didn’t tell her that. It all depends on the baby how they will come out of mommy. But, at the age of 7, my daughter has made up her mind that she is not having kids, simply because one of her close friends at school explained that her mommy was cut open for her to come out.
Hopefully, she will remember this through high school and college and that would be the best birth control ever! And, once she settles down with a husband, she might forget all about it and decide otherwise. Who knows!
