A little about me can become a lot about me. I like to share and love to talk, so we could be here for awhile. I’ll try to spare you some of the lengthy details and give you the short story.
I am a 30-something woman and mother to two beautiful and children, Mr. C and Miss K. My time is with my children, trying to figure the ins-and-outs of how to raise them in the best way I know how, plus trying to balance work in the process. So far, I have learned there are many bumps along the road, but as a whole, we are working through them.
After 14 years of marriage and many, many struggles, my husband and I separated. He is a wonderful friend, but truly needs to reevaluate the role of a husband. As this is a blog of my life and family, I will share my trials with you concerning my separation from time to time.
I do work full-time for a textiles company as a Category Manager while trying to finish a degree that has been a long time coming. So, my blog is my writing outlet as well. I love to write, but work in a career that doesn’t give me much opportunity to do so. One good thing about my company, they have given me the opportunity to work in a company office twice a week and my home office three times a week.
This transitions to a home office has definitely been a learning point for me. Changing how things are scheduled, working around this or that, and realizing that I have to work, not just do laundry! Another great opportunity with the transition to a home office, it gives me a bit more time to take on freelancing positions as well.
As my outlet, I began to write this blog as my release of just stuff that I needed to get off my chest, so to speak, so that I could understand my past, but grow my future. I like that I am able to share this journey with others, possibly meet those that either can shed some light, or someone that I may offer ideas too.
To round out our family, we share our home with three cats, Angel, Pepper, and Mac - who ran away but we are hoping he will come home. All have been rescued in some way. We also have two loud, yet really cute almost-a-year-old puppies - Lulabell, a mini-doxie, and Sushiyami, a shih tzu. Our house is full, and it is definitely our home.
Now, I am still not sure why my blog is named The Brunette Blog. At the time I began thinking of even doing the blog, I knew that I wanted to include all aspects of my life. I knew it wouldn’t just be about parenting, or animals, or our home, but it would be about me, a woman, a mom, and all the other titles I manage to have, all rolled into one and being brunette helped.
So, here I am, sharing with you everything about my life. Come share in the journey with me. I hope you enjoy!

Hi Dannie, Thanks for your nice comment on my blog. I was glad to discover your site and will be back to visit. (I’m a brunette, too!)
I can’t believe all that you do - work full time, kids, keep a blog, freelance writing and you’re doing it alone? Wow. You must be a ball of energy! (Or I guess you could be very tired, but I hope not!)
